The 2009 Sevens took place in warm weather conditions which required the players and spectators to monitor their fluid balance carefully throughout the weekend. Some teams seemed to have been troubled by the conditions and may not have performed at their best possible level. In particular in the Sunday tournament. Saturday evening many teams enjoyed the competions in the Viking Olympics.
The cup tournament final was won by Viti Outlaws (European-based Fijian players) against Frederiksberg Rugbyklub (Denmark). Frederiksberg opened the scoring but seemed be struggling to keep up with the Fijiansmost of the game. The other teams that reached the cup were RAF Spitfires (England), Otters Rugby (England), Honeybunn 7s (England), Susies Saloon 7s (Netherlands), Andy's Vikings (Denmark) and the hosts from Rugbyklubben Speed. Speed by the way managed to have one win in the cup tournament against the Otters.
The others men's finals for plate and bowl were won by CSR/Nanok (DK) against Dr. Jekyll's (NO) and Team JJ's (DK) agianstTønsberg (NO), respectively.
The women's final was won by Susies Saloon Ladies who were never really threatened by the Swedish opponents Tema Skåne. The women's bowl tournament was won by Bergen (NO).
In the old boys final on Saturday evening, Frederiksberg RK (Denmark) won a close battle against South Pacific Masters (Sweden).
